Recent reports from the UAE have revealed that Pakistani nationals can now apply for a five-year UAE visa, a momentous decision that aims to strengthen the relationship between the UAE and Pakistan. The landmark announcement follows months of uncertainty during which a large number of Pakistanis were faced with difficulties in getting Dubai Visa approvals for the Emirates.
A Glorious New Era For Pakistanis
News of this was first shared by Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori from Karachi after a meeting with the UAE ambassador. At the meeting, it was confirmed the previous visa problems between the two countries had been solved. “Pakistanis can also get five-year visas,” Tessori’s office said, highlighting a new phase in Pakistan-UAE relations.
There has been a drastic drop in Pakistanis getting visas in the past few years as some of them face documentation issues, there are many with criminal background and a lot of others do not respect the local laws. These problems have resulted in a decrease in job opportunities for Pakistanis in the UAE. But the new visa doctrine represents a shift, generating new hope for millions of Pakistanis seeking to work, invest or secure medical treatment in the UAE.
The UAE Consulate in Karachi also issued an official statement confirming the development, adding to the optimism. Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Bakheet Ateeq Al-Rumaithi noted the UAE’s love for the Pakistani community and said they love Pakistanis very much, and from now onwards UAE visa will be applicable for every individual. He also pointed out that citizens of Pakistan can apply for visas for a wide array of reasons, whether it be work, health, personal reasons or anything else.
Enhancing UAE-Pakistan Historic Ties
The new long-term visa facility is believed to be a strategic step to strengthen bilateral ties. Currently, around 1.5 to 2 million Pakistanis live in the UAE, the second largest expatriate community in the country after Indians. Their participation is a crucial part of the UAE’s multidimensional social and economic fabric.
In addition, the UAE is the second-highest contributor of foreign remittances to Pakistan, after Saudi Arabia. These remittances play an important role in contributing towards Pakistan’s economy, and the fortunes of millions of families and communities back home. This is also in recognition of the significant contributions made towards this community and a step to further strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE by relaxing visa restrictions and offering a five-year visa option.
Application and Prospects in the Future
With the updated UAE visa policy for Pakistani citizens, Pakistanis can now also apply for a five-year visa for various reasons. Whether for employment, medical, or personal purposes, the new system offers more flexibility and accessibility. The move is a golden moment for the Emirates, which remains focused on diversifying its economy and workforce, thus, generating more jobs across sectors.
